TEKNIQ Rebar · Help
From beam line to production data

Working with Rebar

Draw beams, configure reinforcement and check cages, quantities and drawings. This guide explains the steps in plain language.

Quick start

  1. Choose Project actions → New design, or open an example to practise.
  2. Choose Draw and click the points of a beam line.
  3. Check the preview and choose Finish.
  4. Select the beam and complete its concrete and reinforcement settings on the right.
  5. Check the Material list and use Save. Use Download for your own file.

Open the ? menu for Tour, Help guide or Help video. The tour offers quick, standard and extended options.

Your workspace

The top row contains Project actions · ? · Open · Download · Save. The row below provides project sections, drawings and production exports. Beams, marks, phases and references are on the left. Selection details or settings for new beams are on the right.

Drag a panel edge to change its width. The arrow collapses the panel to free space. Widths and expanded sections are remembered after refreshing. Choose NL or EN at the top left; your own names stay unchanged.

Right-click for selection actions such as fit, isolate and hide. Use Show all to see hidden objects again.

Drawing and placing beams

  1. Set the Main grid and snap grid.
  2. Choose Draw. Set new-beam properties on the right, including placement to the left, centre or right of the line.
  3. Click the start point. Move the cursor to see the proposed beam and length.
  4. Click the next end points. Each line section becomes a main beam.
  5. Choose Finish, or press Esc to cancel the active drawing.

While drawing, type a length and confirm with Enter. The exact-length controls also let you choose a direction. Check the dimension and preview before continuing.

Example: an L shapeClick the first point, then a point 6 metres away, then a point at a right angle. This creates two connected main beams. Each can have its own settings.

Changing settings for new beams does not automatically change existing beams. Select an existing beam to edit it.

Concrete and reinforcement per beam

Select a main beam. On the right, choose a configuration section such as Concrete, Stirrups, Bottom, Top, Side or Ends. Additional bars and stirrups have their own settings.

  1. Check the concrete dimensions and position relative to the input line.
  2. Set the division into subcages, subcage length and any gap.
  3. Configure stirrups and longitudinal bars. Check cover, diameters, quantities and end settings together.
  4. Add extra reinforcement where your design requires it.
  5. Inspect the beam in 3D, Elevation or Section.

A main beam may contain several subcages. The model and mark list help you identify the cage you are viewing.

When several beams are selectedYou are editing the entire selection. Yellow fields show differing values; only fields you enter are applied. Check the selection before making a shared change.

Main beams, cages and marks

A main beam is the complete drawn beam line. A subcage is part of the reinforcement within that beam. A mark groups related production items; its count tells you how many instances occur.

Use the beam and mark lists on the left to choose what to inspect. Selecting in the list updates the model and details. Viewing a mark or subcage differs from selecting a complete main beam.

Read the selection message above the properties. If it says properties change the selected main beams, the change applies to those beams, not just one visible mark.

Working with phases

  1. Open Phases and create a phase with a number and name, such as Foundation or Delivery 1.
  2. Select the beams in the model.
  3. Use Assign selection to this phase on the required phase.

The current phase applies to new beams. Existing beams only move when you assign them. You can also change the selection's phase on the right. Different phases are indicated for mixed selections.

Select every object in a phase, show only that phase or hide it. Use Show all phases to restore the view. When deleting a phase, choose where its beams should move; the beams are kept.

Hiding does not change the designHidden beams remain in the project. Use the phase selector in Drawings to limit a drawing. The Material list covers all beams; hiding is not a production quantity filter.

Using references

Open References to import an underlay. Import supports DWG/DXF, IFC, DWF and vector PDF. A scanned image inside a PDF does not contain vector lines to use.

  1. Add the file and wait for import to finish.
  2. Check a known dimension. For CAD, choose the correct file unit and drawing scale if needed.
  3. Use Visible, Snap and Fit to prepare the underlay.
  4. Check any recognition result and placement preview before creating beams.

An underlay is a reference, not an automatically checked beam design. Check the location, direction and dimensions of created beams.

A plan can contain up to 10 references. Downloading a design with references produces a ZIP that includes the associated files.

Material list and production data

Open Material list for beams, cages, bars, reinforcement weight in kg and concrete volume in m³. Additional reinforcement and loose coupling bars are included.

  1. Click a beam in the list.
  2. Inspect its model preview and bar details.
  3. Choose PXML or BVBS to view the associated file contents.
  4. Download a file per beam, or use Download all for the complete package.

PXML product quantities and BVBS bar quantities include repetitions within each beam. A shortened file preview does not shorten the download.

Quantities are not a price estimateThe list shows model quantities. It does not calculate supplier prices, man-hours or VAT.

Creating drawings

Open Drawings. Choose the drawing type, such as reinforcement per beam or a general overview. Choose the selection or all beams, and optionally a phase.

  1. Check the chosen beams and phase.
  2. Enter sheet details such as title, project number, author and status.
  3. Send the drawings to Drawing.
  4. Check the sheets there. For multiple drawings, the other sheets are available in its drawing list.

The transfer creates drawings from the selected source data. Choosing a phase does not remove beams from your design.

Saving and downloading

ActionResult
SaveStore the current plan locally in this browser.
DownloadA complete design file: .placing.json, or .placing.zip with references.
OpenOpen a previously downloaded plan.
Production exportsFor example logger data (.tekniq.json) or a cage dossier (ZIP).
Material list → Download allA package with a material list and PXML/BVBS per beam.

Keep a design download if you want to edit later or work on another device. A production export serves that production step and does not replace your own design file.

Local browser storage is not a shared cloud folder. Check save messages; if saving fails, use Download to keep your own file.

Troubleshooting

My change affects several beams.
Check the selection and message above the properties. Select one main beam to change only that beam.
The underlay has the wrong size.
Check the file unit and drawing scale against a known distance before placing beams.
I cannot see all beams.
Use Show all or Show all phases, then fit the model.
The material list contains more objects than I can see.
It counts the project, including hidden beams, repetitions and loose reinforcement.
I want to restore a lost change.
Use Undo while the step is still available, or open your own downloaded design file.
